GNLL Boys Spring Youth Field League


2018 Season Resources


The Great Northern Lacrosse League's (GNLL) Spring Field Season (April - June) provides a fun, safe and supportive environment where youth associations and their teams compete, learn and grow. 

Participating teams choose to schedule anywhere from 6 to 16 games throughout the course of the leagues 8 playable weekends in the spring. Game schedules are created at an annual schedule meeting held in late February. Each team is required to host one day of games.

The league is concluded with the GNLL Youth State Championship Tournament.

The league provides the following for all games:  
    •    Certified UMLOA officials
    •    Certified EMT's or Athletic Trainers equipped with AED's 
    •    Online team statistics, standings, schedules and updates 

The GNLL Spring are preceded by Pre-Season Box League (March - April) and followed by the Fall Field Season (September - October). 

Teams who participate in Youth Lacrosse Minnesota's summer are welcome and encouraged to join in as well *YLM's regular season games generally run on Mondays - Thursdays so do conflict with GNLL Spring Season weekend jamborees. 

Age Levels: 14U / 12U / 10U / 8U

​​​​​​Divisions: A / B level will be offered at all levels except 8U and 10U. Association leaders may select which division best serves their needs and player development goals.

Eligibility:  The league follows US Lacrosse age & eligibility guidelines as well as US Lacrosse's Age Segmentation Policy and Athlete Development Model (ADM). USL membership is required for all players and coaches. 


League Dates

Spring Regular Season: April 28 – June 23, 2018. 
Teams primarily play double-headers on Saturdays or Sundays. Teams may also schedule weeknight games on Monday evenings, Wednesday evenings, and Friday afternoons. 8U teams play single games. 

Association Registration:
Association will need to register prior to February 2, 2018.  This will provide the GNLL with the necessary contact information to communicate with the appropriate members of your associations. Click on the "Association Registration" link below to register.

Team Registration:
Teams need to be registered by February 24, 2018. Teams can register once roster sizes have met your minimum requirements.

- An ideal roster size for 14U and 12U team is 20-23 athletes per team
- An ideal roster size for 10U is 15-18 athletes per team
- An ideal roster size for 8U is 12-16 athletes per team

Spring Post Season Tournament: June 23 – 24, 2018
Participating teams play a minimum of 4 games. Tournament Locations are determined in March. We rely on associations to host. Please contact executive director, Christopher Sherman, if interested in hosting.


League Fees

Team Fee: $100 per team*
*The UMLOA Executive Board voted to expand travel fees for assigned officials. To accommodate this additional expense we created a fixed cost for this year of $100 per team.

Game Fee:
- 14U & 12U: $83 per team / per game
- 10U: $68 per team / per game 
- 8U: $38 per team / per game

Fee Breakdown: 
$53 per game for officials and assigning fees ($3 increase per official from 2017 to 2018 - Passed by UMLOA Board vote)
$15 per game for staff and administration costs
$15 per game for EMT's, assigning & travel fees (14U & 12U Only) 

Growth Initiative (G.I.) Support *Optional: $3 per team per game
G.I. Teams or Associations commit an additional $3 per game to support ongoing efforts to grow the game within rural, Native and Inner-City communities. 

Post-Season Tournament Team Fee: 14U/12U/10U - $750  8U - $525

*A $500 deposit is required for each association registered. Deposits are non-refundable after and due at the time of registration. 

The Great Northern Lacrosse League is a division of Homegrown Lacrosse, a registered 501c(3) non-profit organization.  Additional proceeds and sponsorships sustain, expand and develop service-based initiatives throughout the region. 


Registration

Leagues and events often fill to capacity. Registrations are accepted on a first-come-first-serve basis. Teams are not considered fully registered until deposit payments are received. 

Deadline to register is February 20, 2018. A late fee of $100 is applied to all registrations received thereafter.
