Teams will be awarded 3 points for a regulation win, 2 points for an overtime win, 1 point for an overtime loss, and no points for a regulation loss. Number of points will determine standings for playoff rounds. Record, followed by goals allowed, goal differential, then goals scored, will be used as tie-breakers for the tournament.

The games will be four 12 minute running quarters. High school games will follow National Federation of High School Rules. Collegiate games will follow NCAA rules.

And Much More....

More than just competition, The Shootout will also host a number of incredibly fun team and community activities:
  • Team Costume Contest: Costumes should be designed to be field legal and should be worn during their games. The winning team will win a team set of Great Pumpkin Shootout posters. Costumes can be worn on Saturday in order to be entered in the contest. Winning team will be announced at noon on Sunday and can claim their posters at the Homegrown tent located at Hopkins HS.
  • Lax-O-Lantern Carving Competition: Individuals will bring their own pumpkins on Saturday and turn them in at Hopkins HS to the Homegrown tent. All pumpkins must be turned in by 4:00 PM on Saturday and will be judged by HG staff. Winners and prizes will be announced at halftime of the College Showcase game.
  • Pumpkin Chuck Accuracy Challenege: Players will buy 5 lacrosse balls for $1. Here they will stand behind a line and test their accuracy by trying to knock down pumpkins that will be hanging in a lacrosse goal. This will be taking place at the Hopkins HS and more rules can be found there. Prizes for the winners will be announced at event site.
  • Intro Lacrosse Clinic: 2:00 - 3:30 PM at Hopkins HS. Players will learn basic techniques on how to pass, catch, scoop up ground balls, etc. This will be directed by Homegrown Senior Staff.

Boys and Girls TryLax Clinic

This is an introductory clinic for beginner boys and girls looking to try lacrosse (in grades 2nd - 7th). The clinic is part of the 3rd annual Great Pumpkin Shootout Tournament, so you will get to see youth, high school and college lacrosse being played at Hopkins High School on Sat & Sun, Oct 25-26th. Plus clinic participants get to compete in the “Great Pumpkin Shooting Contest” for Halloween candy during the clinic.

The clinic is open to anyone from the Twin Cities interested in trying lacrosse for the first time. Instruction will be provided by college, high school and youth association coaches and players. Local youth association information will be available for those looking to play in the spring or summer. Existing players are encouraged to help instruct and bring their friends to try lacrosse.
