Team Evaluations

Team Evaluations

The Great Northern Lacrosse League offers youth associations unbiased help in selecting rosters for the season. Our coaching staff has many years of experience selecting teams and has a tested system to get the job done right. Our goal is to come out of the tryouts with a set roster and depth chart for your organization.

We use a point system to rank players based on stick skills, athleticism, hustle, lacrosse IQ, and more. We focus on the athlete as a whole and will provide individual feedback based on our observations.

To schedule an evaluation for your organization, contact Kyle (kyle@homegrownlacrosse.org).

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do we get started?

A: To get started, contact Kyle Fuller kyle@homegrownlacrosse.org or call the office 612-823-3919.

Q: How far in advance should we contact the Great Northern Lacrosse League to help?

A: The sooner, the better. By contacting us earlier rather than later, you will be able to have a date that works best for your association and facilities. Some associations book close to five months prior to the tryout dates.

Q: Can our coaches talk with your evaluators?

A: We would prefer to not have any discussions with your coaches regarding player skill or previous team placement prior or during the tryout session(s). This allows us to take a truly objective look at all the players. After our tryout results are delivered, we're happy to discuss ratings, player groupings, or our process in general.

Q: Can our coaches help run the tryout?

A: Absolutely! If you would like your coaches to be involved, they can assist our evaluators by helping run the drills at tryouts. For more information, please contact Kyle Fuller (kyle@homegrownlacrosse.org).

Q: After the tryouts, what do we receive from GNLL?

A: You will receive quantitative data on each player within 2 business days of the final tryout session. A typical deliverable is a list of players ranked by overall score, with a breakdown of their scores in each category.

Q: Do you select the A and B teams or is the association responsible for that?

A: We will compile a list with scores for every player across multiple categories. We acknowledge that we do not know every player's full potential and they may not have their best day at tryouts, so it is ultimately up to the association to decide the final team makeup
