Champions of Summer


Originally designed in 2009 to provide an end of summer tournament experience for area high school summer teams, Champions of Summer was brought back in 2020 to try and make up for the season that we lost.

There are 2 distinctly separate tournaments offered, a single day format for summer traveling club teams (Aug. 2) and one for 2022 high school rosters and youth associations (Aug. 3-4).

Dates: Tuesday, August 2 - Thursday, August 4, 2022.
Game start times run from 1:00 to 9:00 pm. (Travel teams August 2, High School teams August 3-4). 

Location: Maple Grove HS Fields

Format: Single day 3-game guarantee with two 22 minute halves and a two minute half time. Two day 4-game guarantee with two 22 minute halves and a two minute half time. 

Pool play with advancement to championship brackets. 

Travel Team Divisions (August 2, Single Day Tournament): 
Girls: HS A, HS B, 14U (Mixed Association and Club), 12U (Mixed Association and Club)
Boys: HS A, HS B, 14U (Mixed Association and Club), 12U (Mixed Association and Club), 10U (Mixed Association and Club)

High School + Youth Association Divisions (August 3-4): 
Girls: Varsity (Gold/Silver Flights if numbers allow), JV, 14U
Boys: Varsity (Gold/Silver Flights if numbers allow), JV, 14U, 12U
*2022 graduates ARE eligible to play. 

Team Participation Fee: $700 for Travel Team Single Day Tournament ($550 for 10U), $975 for Association/HS Team Tournament

The following will be provided for each game:  
    •    Certified Officials
    •    Certified EMT's equipped with AED's 
    •    Professional Site Managers / Scorekeepers
    •    Online standings, schedules, and updates 
    •    Tournament and Homegrown Lacrosse Apparel for Purchase

Eligibility: Tournament follows US Lacrosse age & eligibility guidelines according to the 2021-2022 school year however graduated Seniors ARE allowed to play in HS divisions but not in travel team divisions. USL membership is NOT required for players or coaches.

High school coaches who plan to coach their spring teams need to work with their athletic directors to obtain an MSHSL summer coaching waiver. 

Team Registration Deadline: Friday, July 8, 2022. 

*Registrations are accepted on a first-come-first-serve basis. 

Homegrown Lacrosse is a registered 501c(3) non-profit organization. Team fees cover facility, officials, EMT, field staff, equipment, and league administration costs. Additional proceeds and sponsorships sustain, expand, and develop service-based initiatives throughout the region.
