2012 Boys Youth & M.S. Lakes League

New in 2012, Homegrown Lacrosse's innovative Holiday Lakes League brings together local youth and middle school teams for a unique 5 to 6-week program (dates vary by site). Sessions provide a perfect mix of team training, competitive full and short field league games, expert coaching  as well as opportunities to play with and against players from neighboring communities.

Held on Saturdays in St. Paul and Savage, the league is designed to meet the specific developmental needs of youth and middle school players. Each age group is provided with opportunities to build confidence, strengthen their skills and develop on-field I.Q.

League Structure

Teamwork & Development. Each session begins with a 35-minute team training session which includes 15 minutes of warm-ups and pragmattic skill development work followed by 20 minutes of team concepts. Teams then face-off in a 55 minute game.

Practice sessions are led by each team's assigned HGL Staff Coach who will remain with that team throughout the length of the program. Sessions are well organized, up-tempo, fun and work to ensure that players enter their weekly games with a plan and set goals to work on. All games are staffed by certified officials and EMT's.

Community. The league offers a great mix of Lakes and River League formats which allows players to practice and grow on both association based teams as well as mixed teams made-up of members from each team entered in the league.

During weeks 1 and 2 teams will practice and compete within their home team (e.g. Eastview 7/8). Then for weeks 3, 4 and 5 team members will be sorted into six new mixed teams and assigned new coaches. The goal is to have players connect with and learn from new teammates from neighboring communities, experience different coaching styles as well as compete against their buddies from their home association.

Mixed teams will be split evenly based on skill level, position and home association.
