Joe McCullagh

Joe lives in his hometown of Minneapolis and attends the University of St. Thomas where he plays Midfield.

He has been honored with receiving the “Tommie Award” as a Freshman
for outstanding work ethic. He has also been named MCLA D2 National
Champion in 2009 and 2010.

Joe believes that lacrosse is one of the most dynamic sport and is excited
to see the sport growing in Minnesota. For Joe, being a part of that
growth is very special.

There are many things that Joe acknowledges about lacrosse that have made him
a better person. Lacrosse has helped him to be a harder worker,
especially upon entering college, by giving him the ability to learn
time management in order to reach his lacrosse and academic goals.

His favorite aspect of the game when coaching is watching the
development of the players over the course of the season. It is
important to Joe to see the kids he coaches move on to the next level of competitive lacrosse, and especially enjoys knowing that in order for
the kids to succeed, they must learn how to set personal goals. These
lessons will teach them the life skills to succeed later in their
careers. Among others, he likes to implement the Ten Minute Scrimmage
drill when coaching his kids.

Joe feels strongly that the Homegrown program stands for community, leadership, and a positive attitude.

Tidbits:  Joe’s favorite restaurant is Gasthof's In Northeast, his dream travel
destination is Sau Paulo, Brazil, and if he could have any gadget he
wanted, he would opt for a Laser Link golf rangefinder.
