Brian Hochman

Brian (aka Hawk) has lived in Bloomington his whole life, except when he attended the University of Minnesota-Duluth. While at UMD, Brian earned many honors and awards for his playing skills.

A high school captain in 2003, 2004, and 2005, Brian also played on the Minnesota Chill. He received a high school All-Conference Honorable Mention, was High School 2nd Team All-Conference, was a UMD 4-year starter, was UMLL 1st Team All-Conference in 2008 and 2009, UMD Vice President in 2007 and UMD Captain in 2009. He also was a USA West Team member in 2008 (Fukouka and Osaka, Japan), and was the MVP in Fukouka, Japan against Kyushu U23 Regional Team.

Hawk feels that lacrosse has made him a better person by challenging his work ethic and making him strive for the goals he's set for his life. The sport has given him confidence both on and off the field and is a game he just plain loves to play. Even after playing as long as he has, lacrosse still gets him excited and ignites his competitive fires. His passion for the game has carried over into his desire to coach.

He enjoys working with young players and taking them to the next step of their lacrosse game. He explains, “There is a very unique feeling you get when you see a player achieve or gain something they have been truly reaching for and you know you helped out in some way.”

When asked about his favorite coaching technique, he explained, "I really enjoy the unsettled/odd man based drills." He likes the Syracuse drill because he feels that the unsettled situations really challenge players to perform.

Tidbits: If Brian is not coaching or playing lacrosse, he enjoys electronics like the iPad, Kindle and Canon XF300 camcorder. He also enjoys Italian food, especially Maggiano’s. He has always wanted to visit Spain or Europe, and thinks attending a European soccer game would be a lot of fun because of the intense action and passionate fans.?
