John Hasbargen

John is a St. Paul resident that grew up in Edina. He attends the University of St. Thomas, where he plays as a ‘Defensive Midfielder’. His achievements include Academic All-American, Honorable Mention All-American Defensive Midfielder, and Team Captain for the University of St. Thomas.

When it comes to lacrosse, John feels that an important part of being
involved in the sport is the brotherhood he develops with his teammates.
He also enjoys it because of the competition aspect, and he appreciates
the unique set of skills needed in order to succeed.

It was a natural choice for John to choose to coach lacrosse because he
“...enjoys the ability to pass on the knowledge I have gained from my
playing career as well as the ability to help mold young players to
become both better players, and better human beings”. He feels that
teaching young players to use the skills they learn on the lacrosse
field and apply them to a real life situation is a major motivator for
coaching.

John loves to use the Jenny Drill when he coaches because "it’s a great way
to end the practice... uptempo drills combining skill development,
conditioning, and competition all in one fun atmosphere."

John feels that three words that most accurately describe the Homegrown organization are competitive, fun, and knowledgeable.

Tidbits: John loves to eat steak and Chipotle, would love to travel to New Zealand and does not like to be caught without his Leatherman.
