Kevin grew up in Hopkins but now makes St. Paul his home. He is currently a student at the University of St. Thomas. In high school, he was named a senior captain and All Conference in 2007 and 2008. As a defenseman for the Tommie lacrosse team, Kevin was a 2-time MCLA Division 2 National Champion in 2009 and 2010.
After picking up a stick for the first time in 2nd or 3rd grade, Kevin hasn't stopped playing. In addition, all of his best friends and memories have come from the sport. (Winning 2 national championships is not easily forgotten!). Kevin will always keep the sport of lacrosse with him and hopes to share that with his future children.
When asked what he likes about coaching, Kevin says, 'I enjoy coaching because I like watching the sport progress. When I started playing, there were limited teams, coaches, refs, facilities, etc.
The first league I played in consisted of two teams that played against each other every week. Now, it's hard to find a community that does not have a team or youth program. I really enjoy being a part of this growth."
Kevin's favorite coaching drill is a Homegrown staple; Jenny. The continuous 3v2 drill teaches transition offense and man down defense.
When asked to describe Homegrown Lacrosse in three words, Kevin said, "Professional, Informational, and Instrumental (to the growth in MN)." Okay, that was nine.??
Tidbits: Kevin loves eating at Mesa Pizza in Dinkytown and would someday like to travel to Costa Rica. His must-have gadget is something many can't live without...his Blackberry.
