John Dunbar

John lives in Eagan, MN and attends Wheeling Jesuit University. He is a midfielder who had the honor of accepting awards for 2003 All-State HM, 2004 First Team All-State, 2005 First Team All-State, 2005 US Lacrosse All-American and 2010 WJU Offensive MVP.
John has always thought of lacrosse as his one real get-away from the outside world of school, work, family dynamics, or other stressors. He likes having the chance to worry only about his team and sixty minutes of lacrosse, nothing more.

The sport of lacrosse gave John the opportunity to receive a great Jesuit education and to obtain a business degree. It also enabled him to make friends whom he now considers to be like family. John knows that “You may have some of the toughest times of your life while you're in college, but you will always have your team/family standing by your side.”

John loves to coach lacrosse because it gives him a chance to give back to the community by helping the younger players get better. He enjoys being an ambassador to his favorite game, and feels that sharing his knowledge of lacrosse with others will help it continue being the number one fastest growing sport.

His favorite coaching drill is the 1-on-1. He loves it because it lets him find out who really wants to try hard and who doesn’t. "It’s a drill that brings out the intensity and determination of the players," he says. John is happy to be a part of the Homegrown program.

Tidbits: John enjoys Mongolian barbecue at Kahn’s and really doesn’t like to be without his cell phone. His most memorable trip was one he took to Amsterdam, Netherlands.
