An Apple Valley native, Colin now makes South Minneapolis his home.
Colin is undoubtedly one of the top lacrosse players to come out of Minnesota. He's been awarded many lacrosse honors, such as High School All American in 2002, All State in high school three times, and College All American three times. He also had the opportunity and honor of playing for the Philadelphia Barrage (MLL) in 2006, the New York Titans (NLL) in 2007, and the Minnesota Swarm (NLL) from 2007-2010.
Lacrosse is special to Colin "because it gives players a chance to build their own identity within the sport."
He's very grateful for the opportunities that playing lacrosse has given him, such as making many friends through the sport and being able to obtain a college scholarship because of it. Lacrosse has enabled him to travel all over the world, and has given him a community that he'll be part of for the rest of his life.
More than just a lacrosse player, he is also a student of the game; finding ways to evolve his skills and those of the players he coaches.
"I find it very rewarding to see players achieve their goals, their dreams, and accomplish things they didn’t think were possible," he says. "There is no better feeling than to watch a young player develop and become successful, to see the smile on his face, and to know that he has a sense of accomplishment."
For Colin, coaching the sport puts things in perspective, and “makes you remember why you got involved with lacrosse in the first place...because you love it and what it stands for."
An embodiment of Homegrown’s core values of Character, Confidence, Community, Colin strives each day to demonstrate those values in every thing he does.
Tidbits: Colin really enjoys Italian food and sushi. He also really likes his iPad. If he were to travel any time in the near future, he would like to go to Europe.
