Program Structure / Values:
Teamwork & Community: At our first session players are assigned to one of four teams which they will remain on the length of the program. Each team is set-up to provide evenly balanced competition, compatible coach / player relationships as well as connect players and coaches from different communities and backgrounds.
Mentorship: On day 1 players are also assigned to training groups of 6 to 8 and assigned a Leadership Development Program Counselor (LDP). LDP Counselor's are volunteer high school lacrosse players from all over the metro. Counselor's serve as "big brothers" who work along side their players during each week's set of skill clinics . LDP Counselors provide a positive example and positive feedback to each kid. In turn each counselor learns a tremendous amount about their own game and interpersonal skills. For more information on our Leadership Program click here.
Preparation: All sessions begin before our set times. We emphasize preparation and encourage players to arrive early and often. Our hope is that players can develop and adapt a habit pre-practice warm-ups. This works to ensure that players get the most out of every minute they have with coaches on field.
Strength & Goal Setting: All sessions begin with a 15 minute dynamic warm-up which work on flexibility, focus & mental preparation, coordination and sprint mechanics. All warm-ups and speed work stations are run by certified strength and conditioning coaches.
Knowledge: After warm-ups players work through 45 minute progressive positional skill clinics. Each week new concepts are demonstrated and practiced via high repetition drills. Players are challenged to put these skills into use during game-time as well as set goals for their weekly development. Focus: During each skill clinic goalies will work with Director, Ian Gallagher (Division 1 Wagner College 07') as well as a tremendous staff of assistant goalie coaches and shooters.
Fun: After warm-ups and skills development players get to put their newly acquired skills to the test in tournament style short-field games (7 v. 7, Continuous 3 v. 2, 6 v. 6 etc.) Team records are kept and culminate in our sessions 6 Tournament of Campions.
Passion: Each team is coached by 1 of our tremendous senior staff members and 2 LDP counselors. Our senior staff is made up of Minnesota's top Varsity MSHSL, MCLA, NCAA and Professional players, all of whom have a passion for our sport as well as youth development.
